Prior to KAGE, he was founding CEO of the Initiative for a New Economy (INE), a first in the Greater Boston region coalition of corporations, community organizations, and the City of Boston, that launched a major initiative that expanded the opportunity for minority owned business enterprises (MBE) in Massachusetts. INE was acknowledged as a world innovator by Bentley University and TIME Magazine.
For 20 years prior to joining INE, Mr. Benjamin served as President of the Massachusetts Community Development Finance Corporation (CDFC), an economic development investment corporation that provided debt and equity financing to small businesses and real estate development projects.
Mr. Benjamin serves as Trustee to the Dedham Institution for Savings, board member of the Boston Renaissance Charter School Foundation, board member of A Better City, and advisory commitee member of Associated General Contractors. He was a 2009 recipient of the Rosoff Award for “External Diversity Initiatives”, the 2010 Eastern Bank Community Quarterback Award, and the 2010 Social Capitalist Award by Social Capital Inc.
Mr. Benjamin holds a B.S. and J.D. from Northeastern University.
